An Act Of Kindness

I read many blogs daily. I try my hardest to read and leave a comment on all of the blog posts in my Bloglovin' Feed. I will admit that if a post completely annoys me, or I have zero interest in reading it, I will skip and return the next day. I used to try and comment even when I didn't care as much but then I recently stopped doing that. It wasn't genuine and I think it's unfair to the blogger. I know that I take probably too much pride in each of my posts. It would be ignorant of me to assume that everyone reads word for word what I write all of the time, but I do hope that my loyal readers read what I'm writing.. What I write means something to me and when people read and leave comments, it warms my heart and makes me feel good. I'm Little Haley in school again, squirming in my seat to see if the teacher wrote a comment on my journal entry or piece of work. A dork, yes. Proud, you betcha!

In November, Cindy from La Maman Heureuse posted her thoughts on the progress of her blog in a post called, Thank You For Reading. In it she spoke about wanting to let her readers know that she appreciated them.  She put together a lovely package and posted pictures of it in this post called, The Joy Of Giving. All she asked was for us to leave a comment about a favourite Christmas memory in the comments. Another blogger, Deanna left a comment about meeting her husband during the holidays and later, Cindy had her story featured on her blog, A Holiday Love Story. Deanna won with her moving story but because Cindy is so kind, she sent me a message saying that I was going to get something in the mail for having left a nice comment as well. How nice! I went away during Christmas and forgot all about it until we stopped to get the mail on our way into town.

I was so delighted to get something in the mail from a 'stranger' that I ripped the package open as soon as I got home. My mom was with me and was completely in awe that someone I had never met would go to all of the trouble to send me a care package. I explained to her that bloggers are a whole different kind of person. I think for the first time, my mom caught a real glimpse into Blogland, without being a blogger herself.

I mean seriously! Look at all of these goodies she sent me! Plus, Cindy lives in Belgium, so everything that was sent is that much more special because of it. She sent Christmas ribbon and cute Christmas labels for presents, Belgium chocolate (Whaaaat!!?? Thank you!!) she sent nail polish, cute panda socks, a star decoration for the tree and two wooden canary clips. For Alina she sent two pairs of socks, a spoon and fork set and an adorable tree ornament. I seriously couldn't have been more thrilled with such kindness. I had just finished explaining to my mom how I don't understand why people send Christmas cards without a message inside. I know that I am a writer and that is probably why I will always send an extra little message in a card because I enjoy writing. When I opened up Cindy's card, it was full of words!! Of course, us bloggers always have something to say...

I wanted to dedicate a post special for Cindy. It takes true kindness and selflessness to send such a loving, well put together, thoughtful package to a total stranger. I know we aren't really strangers because we speak through messages, but still... Thank you so much for thinking of me and especially for thinking of my little Alina. She loved her fork and spoon set so much.. Please show your little one these photos so she can understand that you didn't actually send her fork and spoon set to Canada.

I never put much thought into thanking my readers for supporting me. But Cindy planted the seed into my mind. Perhaps I should have a little "Surprise- I appreciate you!" package put together for a certain, loyal reader in the near future. I now know how much it meant to me to receive something so unexpected!
If anyone is looking for a good read or even just a kind person to have nice conversation with; check out Cindy's blog- La Maman Heureuse.

Has your life ever been touched by another blogger just because...? Tell me about it!

I must admit that I read 100s more blogs than I comment on- mostly I don't because I don't feel like I have anything meaningful to add to the conversation and sometimes it's out of pure laziness. That being said, I love blogland box swaps and since I am obsessed with pandas I heartily approve of your socks! x

Ahhh that was so sweet of Cindy!

I definitely appreciate the readers of my blog because they are few and far between. I'm learning that some days I may have 50 readers but only one person ever comments their thoughts, lets me know I'm not alone, and thanks me for making her think of something new and different...that's you.

So as much as you want to thank YOUR readers, please stop and let me thank you for always letting me know what someone out there is reading.

xoxo

Megan-
Awwwww- thanks so much! My heart felt a bit warmer after reading that message. You sure know how to make a girl feel special.... garsh. (That was my best Goofy impression, in writing..!) I always want my blogging friends to know that I'm always reading and caring about what you have to say!

What a sweet girl Cindy is! That is such a great idea. I love passing on some love any way I can. It is so true that bloggers are such a unique and great community. I have been touched by so many ladies lately. It totally warms my heart.

This is so sweet Haley . It literally makes me happy when somebody takes time and types a genuine comment on my post . You're right , we can't always comment on every post and a forced comment wouldn't be that fun :)
I really loved to see what she sent. I've been to some bloggy programs and exchanged gifts but an unexpected parcel , it would be a piece of joyyyy!

Maturity is the ability to think, speak and act your feelings within the bounds of dignity. The measure of your maturity is how spiritual you become during the midst of your frustrations. See the link below for more info.
